2009 Asthma Friendly School Awards

The Chicago Asthma Consortium's School Task Force wishes to recognize schools in the Chicago area that make significant efforts to provide children with asthma the support needed to keep their asthma under control and to be fully active in school.

As stated by the Centers for Disease Control in their document Strategies for Addressing Asthma within a Coordinated School Health Program, "Asthma-friendly schools are those that make the effort to create safe and supportive learning environments for students with asthma."

The Asthma Friendly School Award Program is a voluntary program where schools may seek recognition for the many efforts they are making to support children with asthma and for the additional efforts that they will make in the future. Recipients will be publicly recognized at an annual awards event and receive an award suitable for displaying.
