Cardinal Concepts in the Management and Control of Asthma
Michael B. Foggs, MD, Chief of Allergy and Immunology, Advocate Health Centers, Advocate Professional Group, and Advocate Health Care; and member of the new NHLBI Expert Panel for developing the Guidelines for Diagnosis and Management of Asthma
This presentation will explore the fundamentals of asthma treatment and control, with a focus on the relationship between asthma and allergy. Participants will gain an understanding of the essential measures necessary to achieve optimal asthma control: identifying co-existing allergy, implementing necessary environmental control measures, selecting appropriate medical interventions, and treating asthma and related allergic disorders that negatively impact asthma. A special focus of this presentation will be placed on how the asthma patient’s perception of asthma can influence adherence to medical regimes.Networking Break and Community Update
