Respiratory Health Association of Metropolitan Chicago
The mission of the Respiratory Health Association (RHA) is to prevent lung disease and promote lung health. Founded in 1904 to fight tuberculosis, RHA today fights lung disease in all its forms, with special emphasis on asthma, tobacco control and environmental health.
Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA)
The AAFA provides free information about asthma and allergies, offers education programs for consumers and health professionals, advocates to improve quality of life for patients, and promotes research to find a cure.
Illinois Asthma Partnership
In 1999 more than 50 organizations joined the Illinois Department of Public Health to form the Illinois Asthma Partnership. The group has grown and now comprises more than 100 members, who, using a public health approach, developed an asthma plan for Illinois. The plan's overarching goal is to reduce asthma morbidity and mortality in Illinois through implementation of best practices.
Mobile C.A.R.E. Foundation
A non-profit organization dedicated to providing free asthma care and education to children in underserved areas of Chicago.
Safer Pest Control Project
A non-profit organization dedicated to reducing the health risks and environmental impacts of pesticides and promoting safer alternatives in Illinois.
Smoke-Free Chicago
Alderman Ed Smith (28th Ward), chair of the City Council Health Committee, introduced a comprehensive smoke-free ordinance into the City Council at the request of the American Cancer Society. The ordinance, developed by the American Cancer Society, would make Chicago smoke-free in all indoor public places, including workplaces, restaurants and bars.

National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI)

The Rural Assistance Center
The Rural Assistance Center (RAC) was established in December 2002 as a rural health and human services "information portal." RAC helps rural communities and other rural stakeholders access the full range of available programs, funding, and research that can enable them to provide quality health and human services to rural residents.
